Pick the problem in front of you—your next island, a stubborn boss, a red Steam Relay check, or one missing achievement—and follow a short route backed by visible sources.
How to Fish is a physics-driven fishing adventure from Dazed Games. Its official loop moves from catching or defeating creatures to selling them, upgrading gear, completing island quests and taking on bosses.
This guide does not ask you to read a walkthrough from top to bottom. Use the route map to jump directly to progression, combat, collecting or troubleshooting, then follow the next-step link at the end of every page.
Progression: identify the island gate, boss or key item holding you back.
Bosses: check source-reported bait and a cautious encounter plan.
Collection: track regular species and all 28 official Steam achievements locally.
Troubleshooting: separate official patch notes from community-only symptoms.

One multiplayer claim needs both versions of the story
The Steam store and developer site still describe a 1–4 player experience. Patch 1.0.4, however, says lobby support was expanded to as many as eight players. We keep that conflict visible instead of silently choosing one source.
For a current patched lobby, use “up to eight players” with the store-copy warning. If your real lobby behaves differently, record the version, lobby type and host before treating it as a new issue.

Every source has a job and a limit. Community reports remain leads, not universal facts.
